Whats going on with my paycheck?

i started working at kmart, and the first week was just easy stuff, and i worked about 7 hours, so i made $51 minus tax so $44, the next week i worked 15 hours and my pay stub says i made 111.08 and minus tax i should have gotten $97 but i only got $52, the third week i worked 37 hours and my pay stub says i made $272, minus tax i should have gotten $233, what is going on with this. I know how much tax they take out, its on the pay stub, they take 15% but im not seeing why its like this, can anyone explain?

Are you looking in the YTD column or CURRENT column? your YTD is your year to date information showing what you have earned from the beginning of the year up until the current period. You should be looking at your "CURRENT" column to see your current gross wage and currents deductions/taxes. These should net to tthe amount on your paycheck.

The income tax they withhold is likely based on withholding tables, not a flat 15%. Therefore, under most circumstances, the more you earn, the more they withhold, and not necessarily a flat 15%. It depends on what you entered on form W-4 when you provided one to them.

Either way, the numbers you are providing appear to be off the wall. Check your pay stub to see what else they may be withholding, such as union dues, health insurance, etc. It should explain it pretty clearly. However, don't expect your tax withheld to be a flat percentage...it rarely will be.
