How to go about finding an artist for video game design?
I am currently working towards a CS degree in university, and there is an event coming up that will have us showcase our video games. We are allowed to form teams with others outside the major, so we can bring in musicians and artists, but I have no idea how to go about finding someone. Our department never interacts with the arts, so I dont know where to begin.
What I need is someone who is communicative, can draw very well using a computer, get the art done on time and not need to be paid for it more than having their name on the game and a copy for themselves. Obviously no money is involved since it's a university event.
On one hand I feel like I am asking too much, but on the other hand if an artist asked me to make a game of their art to enter into a contest, I'd think it was awesome.

You could try putting up fliers next to the art classrooms, or look up all the art majors in your school directory and send them an e-mail. E-mail the head of any campus art, gaming, or comic related club or organization too. Maybe somebody would be willing to help out to build their portfolio. But don't expect quality or commitment for free, you get what you pay for.

I'll be honest with you, most artists won't do work for free unless its for charity, even if they get credited for it.( Reason why here if you are curious: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWXYoD7wfOs ) and I'm not talking about just professionals but hobbyists and student artists. But I'm sure some people are stupid enough to do free work, though their skill level won't be high.. I know what you are asking is how you can find an artist to draw for you so.. You could try going to http://conceptart.org/ (most people there won't do it though) or http://www.deviantart.com/ (you may have luck finding an artist who would do free work here but even if you do, the artist's level will be pretty low.But since its free I guess you can't really complain?) Or try asking in art forums in general. Remember, if you are able to get an artist to help you, no matter their skill level, respect them.(Don't rush them because they are spending their precious time on you) and be aware that some people will just ditch their work halfway.

Wow you've were given a promising destiny. :) I took sport layout my Junior 3 hundred and sixty 5 days i have self belief. (regrettably in trouble-free terms a a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days direction) even inspite of the actuality that being a sport developer might want to look like an trouble-free pastime to land, it is not. in spite of the undeniable fact that it sounds as if like you recognize of that already. It takes an intense expertise of pcs and mathematical understanding to develop right into a developer. I regrettably failed in those diverse kinds. :3 in case you save going the way you're recognize, you would have an excellent danger of adjusting right into a developer. Your on the right direction, so sturdy success! :)
