Rabbit Questions?!?!?
Hiya, Thanks for looking at my questions!! :)
My parents have finally said yes to me getting a bunny and i will be getting it soon but i wanted to make sure i got the right bunny even if it takes many trips to where i would buy the bunny or to different places to make sure i get the right bunny for me. I do have a few questions tho.
1. I know rabbits smell and that is one of my parents concerns so are there any tips on how to make them not smell as bad? I know its not the actual bunny its there pee and poop.
2. At what age would i get them spayed/neutered?
3. Around how much does getting them spayed/neutered cost?
4. Any other things i should know before i get a rabbit?

1. You would need to clean often and clean well. Litter training does help as they will pee and poop in one place. A good litter is also helpful, wood or paper pellets are best. When you do clean, scrub out the litter box at least weekly and use white vinegar to help get rid of the urine deposits and smell. You can also use vinegar mixed with water in a spray bottle to wipe down the cage. If your rabbits are not litter trained right away (young rabbits usually take some time), then you will need to clean more often. If you use blankets or towels, you will need to wash them often, using vinegar in the wash does help as well.
2. Males can usually be done once their testicles descend, but are typically not done until about 4-5 months old. Females can be done around 5-6 months. As long as the rabbit is healthy, there is no upper age limit.
3. The cost a spay or neutered can vary a lot. It is usually around $100-250 for a male and $200-350 for a female. Some areas are more expensive though. You do need to find a rabbit savvy vet as most vets don't know much about rabbits. Some areas do have low cost spay or neuter services for rabbits, these are usually done through a rescue, but you might need to prove that you can't afford the surgery.
4. Rabbits are great pets, but do have some specific needs. They need to have hay available at all times, this is usually timothy hay but can be other grass hay. Alfalfa should be limited to young rabbits under 6 months. Rabbits do need large cages as they need to be able to move around. Once you add a litter box, food dish, toys, be and other items, there is not much space in a pet store cage. I would suggest looking into building an NIC cage or using an x-pen instead of a cage.

-buy froma breeder less likely chance of having a problem.
1. they dont smell, their poops and pee does. Just always clean. The more you clean the less likely to keep the smell. using deororent for animals can help cover the smell. U can also buy rabbit spay shampoo.
2. to be more safe at about the age at which the rabbit reaches the age of sexual maturity. For the majority of rabbits, this means at about 4-6 months of age.
3.I got mine at 25. but usually 50-70 dollars
4.If its an inside rabbit, keep away from cables. Cover cables so they wont get electrocuted. Also it can be a great problem if u have carpet because they can scratch it apart or hurt them selves by getting their nails stuck.
4.If its an outside keep them warm in winters visit them as much as possible, they feel lonely if you don't.

I have a miniature loop:
1. He does not smell much it's just when i clean him out you can feel it on your nose but its not bad.
2. Mine is nearly a year and will be getting him neutered soon but i'm not sure when he was able to be done, it ha never caused a problem.
3. I don't think it will be over £20
4. Apparently male rabbits are more tame than females and miniature loops are supposed to be quite a calm and gentle breed of rabbit.
And also i clean out his cage every week but clean up poo whenever i see it.

1) I really didn't notice much of a smell when I had him inside. You have to clean their cage every other day. Speaking of cage, get one big enough to hope around in. I built a huge one outside for it. I would suggest that.
2) Not sure. We ended up getting ours a mate and selling them for 20$ on craigslist.
3) Don't know. Could be free
4) How would you feel to be in a cage that has barely enough room to walk around in? That's why I recommend building one outside and enclosing it.
