Math help please pre algebra?

I have a math question:

The population of California is projected to grow from 36,039 thousands in 2005 to 38,067 thousand in 2010. What is Califorjias projected population increase over this time period.

How do I solve this? When multiplying how do you know which numbers go on too?

I'm not a high school student, I'm in college and doing a pre algebra book to prepare for algebra 1 in 9 weeks. Thank you. ;)

Here's how you approach these types of problems.

    You first change the numbers.

The population of California is projected to grow from 3 in 2005 to 6 2010. What is Califorjias projected population increase over this time period.

Looks to ME like a 100% increase.

    How did you get it?

    Probably by (6-3)/3

    let's do another

The population of California is projected to grow from 8 in 2005 to 10 2010. What is Califorjias projected population increase over this time period. Look list a 25% increase to ME.

    (10 - 8) ./ 8

Now, go solve YOUR problem and leave me alone. :) :)

    always,

    tony.
