Question about the sleep pill unisom?
I'm going on a trip on Friday night with a couple friends, leaving at midnight. I want to get some sleep before the trip. I know I won't be able to sleep without help so if I take it at 7 pm and sleep to midnight, and the first couple hours of the car drive, would I be okay to drive after that?

It depends on which Unisom you have. One form has the active ingredient diphenhydramine and is really same thing as Benadryl in a different package. Taking two of those for most people will cause drowsiness for up to 8 hours. It takes about 1 to 1.5 hours to work
The other Unisom has doxalamine which is another antihistamine commonly in NyQuil that makes it work so well to help people rest.
Either way I'd be nervous about you driving if it hasn't been 8 hours or more. The doxyalamine Unisom works quicker and strong but usually doesn't come with a hangover type feeling later.
Maybe try sleeping later in the day over next couple days to reset your wakeful time schedule.
