Yamaha Audio Receiver cuts out.?
I bought a Yamaha Receiver on Ebay 4-5 years ago and has not used it. Now when we try to hook it up, it only work for a few hours then cuts out. When I looked at the power chord, it looks like someone took out the grounding pron and tried to modify it. Is this replaceable, and how much? can I do this myself?
Apparently it's not even powering on anymore. I disconnected the speakers, all inputs/outputs except the power. No LED, or stand by. I hear a click. None of the Optical are on.

It's cutting out because it is overheating. Make sure that none of the vents are blocked. Don't stack other equipment on top of it. Keep the volume below the distortion range. The power cable may be an issue, but it is not the cause of your complaint. BTW, a "chord" is three or more musical notes played together.

Most of those power cords can be remove from the receiver and you can buy a replace cord. The reason that might cut out is that you are using too much power and the receiver does not have the power to be at that high volume. It is called protection mode to prevent any damage to the receiver. Hope this will help you out.
