Howmany days after birth the umbilical cord will be discarded ?

Umbilical cord of my grand son did not fallen even after 17 days. Is there any complication or is it normal?

    It has to be kept dry, the faster it dries completely the faster it falls off.

    I think 2-3 weeks is normal, my sons fell off quite early though, after only a week
