Is it better installing windows xp or windows 7?

It's kind of a long story, but i basically got a new computer' and i have the option of installing windows xp or windows 7.

until now i didn't really have the option, but it's kind of a long story.

anyways, i used xp until now, and i got really used to it, i really like it and all, but 7 is supposed to be better... my dad obviously recommends me 7 as the better option, but considering my feelings, and not only the technical information, how much better really is windows 7 than xp, and is it really better installing 7?

7 is preferred when the hardware supports it.

XP support will be dropped next year anyway.

And 7 is not that radically different in 'feel' from XP, plus it can be tailored to look a lot like it.

An adjustment period will be needed, but it's not overly difficult. A few days and you'll have it.

Windows 7 is alot more advances in thousands of ways more than xp, because it is far newer. XP has a crummy way of trying to get users to send their problems using the internet, although this has caused XP to 1 lag more often and 2 become slower due to the 'Resolver' trying to find problems, even though often their is none. definatly go Windows 7. Vista is also a waste of time, due to it's innability to run normally and work, and so is longhorn which was complete failiure! But although Windows 7 is spectacular i would recommend paying a little bit more and buying windows 8 just for the reason it that it is newer, more advanced and faster than 7.

    Here's a comparison of 2000, XP, Vista, Longhorn, 7 and 8.

Let's Begin with a few things:

Windows 8 - Revolutionary but sadly designed more for touch screen laptops/desktops and tablets - people who use the normal desktop (like me) simply have no reason to upgrade to Windows 8 (except for: USB 3.0, UEFI BIOS, Low power architect., Malware filters, bunch of performance improvements etc etc etc). If you're asking me, I hate Windows 8. They got rid of the Windows Orb

Windows 7: Based on Windows Vista but everything was updated extensively!

WINDOWS XP: Based on Win 2000, Better details (all the small things). This OS may be efficient but is quickly becoming obsolete due to windows 8, but Windows 7 is even MORE efficient and has a LOT more support!, it's faster and more reliable in the long run as long as you keep it current!!, if you own an old PC, and it has a 1GHZ CPU, slam a gig of DDR400 in there and bash in a GeForce MX 420 GPU, then add windows 7 to the mix and you have a bottom of the line PC that is good for day to day tasks like surfing the web or playing minesweeper!!, not only that but the debugging and overall health of your system is more advanced and the PC will have an easier time running it!

WINDOWS VISTA: Revolutionary (Nice layout IMO, not as "resource-hungry" as many people believe - frankly, I just think many people are prejudiced because <insert excuse>), Bad at pretty much everything else

WTF are you still doing with that OS, it's taking ALL of the resources you could be using for games or something like that but instead, all that memory is being wasted on the OS, you can't even turn minesweeper straight unless the system you have was souly based on gaming!!

LONGHORN: The follow up to vista: less resource hungry and has no support as this OS was not officially released and I wanted it and can't find an ISO anywhere, but, it would have made life so much easier than Vista, I mean, WHAT WAS BILL GATES THINKING!!!???

Well.... Windows XP is no longer supported... so Windows 7 is most certainly the correct choice. It is only a matter of time before XP is totally useless from lack of support.

windows xp is better than windows 7 in few ways.

it occupies less space than 7 as win 7 occupies bulk space.

many option are simpler and can get advice from friends.

if you are using pirated xp you dont need to have license key.

    whereas in Win 7

the background and all screens looks glossy and stylish

copying and moving of files takes less time than xp

you need license key or activator

other than these there is no difference between xp & 7

    Or.........

Find someone who has a Linux Mint or Ubuntu dvd. Try it on your comp before you choose between XP or 7. You may like it a lot better. Both Mint 13 and Ubuntu 12.04 are supported until 2017. They also release a new version every 6 months.....and as always- its free. Much easier than any windoze version.

I used both XP and @007. Though I think both are same. though 2007 is better regarding virus.

But Office XP is much better than Office 2007, practically Office XP is more user friendly.
