How do I paint over that fugly fake chrome grille on my Silverado?
I just want a black grille. It has that metalized chrome that is all scratched up. Can I simply sand it off and paint it?
I dont want to keep it for later. I want that chrome crap gone and then paint it black.

Look up plastidip! I've used it on my rims and emblems and it works great, it's like a latex coating that you can apply with a spray can and you can peel it off whenever you like! Plenty of YouTube videos and fonzie does a good job explaining how to do it. Just cover up for overspray and don't put it too close, apply a light first coat and I usually do about 4 coats (1 every half hour) and you're golden.
Source(s): Have used this product and it works great, can pick up from lowes for only $6 a can and I did all 4 of my 17" rims 4 coats and my emblems with 2 cans.
