Romantic birthday dinner without a table or chairs!!?

So its my boyfriends birthday on Wednesday and I haven't really got money at the moment so Ive decided to cook him a meal after someone suggested it which is good considering we like staying in.

However we are currently living in shared accommodation which means we live in a smallish cluttered room with no table, just a desk and swivel chair.

I just want any suggestions on how I can make the room look a bit more romantic and some suggestions on how I could set the room up for the meal.

Any help appreciated. thought of fairy lights and candles.

Throw a blanket on the ground, drape the room in "fairy lights", turn the lights low and dine by candle light. It'll give off the illusion that you're having a picnic under the stars. :)

Candles and fairylights sound great! You could set up your desk with a tablecloth, or even eat dinner on the floor with a few pillows and maybe a table cloth. Try just cleaning up a bit (or stuffing stuff in the closet; what i do when i'm in a hurry) to make room. Try some flowers and/or some japanese lanterns; you can get those for pretty cheap. Maybe re arrange the furniture for something different and special. Whatever you do, i'm sure he'll love it- it's the thought that counts after all, right?

Find a larger box to use as your table. Cover with with a tablecloth or even a sheet. Light one or two candles. Cook and serve the meal in your nicest MATCHING bra and panties. Tell him they will only come off after dinner when it is time for dessert.

Have a floor picnic. Put a sheet on the floor and have some candles and wine.
