Who would you rather have on your team, future in mind, Justin Verlander (age 30) or Clayton Kershaw (age 24)?
Remember to think about upcoming years, NOT JUST RIGHT NOW.

If I want an ace for the next 2-3 seasons, then I would pick Verlander. Verlander is currently the best pitcher in baseball and will be the best for at least the next three seasons. His control and velocity are both elite and his ability to strike out batters at a high rate is solid. Kershaw is a pitcher I would want long term because of his age and upside. Kershaw has alot of the tools Verlander has, like velocity, control, good breaking ball and he is also a great strikeout artist. Verlander I think is still the better between the two but just barely. Verlander will still be elite in the next 5 years I think.

Depends on the length of the contract
3-4 years Verlander
4-5 years Verlander...maybe Kershaw
5-6 years Kershaw...maybe Verlander
6-7 years Kershaw and so on

My answer depends on how far into the future you are talking about. From now, up to 5 years in the future, I'll pick Verlander. More than 5 years into the future I'll go with Kershaw.

undemanding chum. Verlander in basic terms picked up a playoff win adverse to between the finest pitchers in baseball, more suitable than Kershaw can say. Kershaw is nasty, little doubt. even if it truly is about 2 years too early previously him and Verlander should be compared.

Clayton Kershaw, He is a Cy young winner and a great pitcher, he got a 96 mph fastball and a nasty curveball, He is young too , so if you sign him for 10 year, he can still pitch!! so i choose clayton kershaw
