Tenant/ Renter rights in BC: Do I have say in who my landlord moves in?

My room 2 mates both moved out and now my landlord is pressuring me to find someone to fill their place. He recently told a woman she could move in, but when I met her there is a HUGE conflict of interest. There is no way in hell I want to live with her, but my landlord may not listen to me before she moves in. Do I have any rights as a tenant who has been in the house for a year as to who my next room mate is going to be? Or do I have to live with who ever my landlord decides?

It depends on how rent is paid. If you are paying 100% of the rent to the landlord yourself you decide. If you pay a portion and only that portion even when there is no roommate then the landlord can decide.

So if you want to decide you just need to pay for the other 2 spots until you do.

I had landlords tell me they had someone interested in my apartments, but I said no. Tenants have a right to choose who they share an apartment with, not the landlord.

Get someone in there of your own choosing.

You dont have to accept anyone you dont want. Is this an apartment or are you renting a separate room in a house? If you rent an apartment and cannot afford the whole rent you have to fine two more roommates.

If you have a contract for the whole apartment and are paying the total rent to the landlord then you can decide who lives there, However the way you described the situation I believe that you are probably only paying 1/3 of the rent and the the other two tenants are paying the rest, in that case you have NO say who the landlord rents to.
