Razer Tiamat 7.1 bad mic quality?

So I just bought a Razer Tiamat 7.1 but I dont have a 7.1 sound card. The mic quality is workable but still quite bad. Do I need a 7.1 sound card for better mic quality?

    I don't think the sound card will make any difference. Probably the budget has gone into the headphone design Ive looked at the spec of the mic and it doesnt compare to a quality mic from the likes of Shure etc.
