Which New York sports franchise is in a deeper hole, the Mets or the Jets?

The Jets will likely lose their best player in Darrelle Revis, and the Mets best player besides David Wright is Ruben Tejada (who's isn't exactly a stud).

The Jets. They have cap problems from signing people due to inept drafting which is why they're currently shopping Revis, they never drafted the blitzing linebacker for their defensive scheme, they don't have any depth at wide receiver, their running backs leave a lot to be desired, and they have an inept front office which trickles down to the coaching staff. The Mets on the other hand are bringing in the pieces they need to build for the future. They're essentially copying the same model the Giants used to win; arm their staff with dominant pitching and have a good all around backstop. Will D'Arnaud become Posey? Most likely not but even if he's just a solid bat, they have Davis and Wright in the middle of the order which puts them ahead of many transitional or rebuilding teams. Harvey, Wheeler, Snydergaard mixed with the crafty lefty Niese and Dillion Gee as the probable number five that could become a very good staff in the future. And with the money left on Bay's contract and Santana's contract coming off the books next year, they have the money to sign or trade for at least one big outfielder next off season and maybe an established closer.

Ike Davis is the Mets second best player. Had he not struggled early last year, a 40 hr, 100 rbi season might not have been out of the question.

The Mets 2nd best player is Ike Davis, who someday soon will lead the NL in HR's, and they also have Tejada, Matt Harvey, Jon Neise, Zack Wheeler, Lucas Duda, Daniel Murphy, and Travis D'Anard, and at least 3 stud pitching prospects who are not yet in AA ball. The Mets have an upside and will be strong contenders in 2 years, so, obviously you didn't know much about their organization to begin with.

The Jets are not in bad shape, and if they trade Revis they will get at least 3 top draft picks.

To be honest, the Yankees, and Knicks, may be in bigger trouble in the coming years. Go back to the drawing board!

The Mets are in a bigger hole because their owner is in financial trouble and revenues for the team probably aren't as high as they would like them to be. The Jet's don't have a revenue problem as far as I know.

Plus, a Revis trade will provide the team with a bunch of draft picks.

The Jets. They have a crappy QB, untalented skill players on offense, and a moron for a head coach.

but seriously it is the Mets because of the money issues

I guess you never heard of Ike Davis, or Jon Neise, or Zack Wheeler, or Matt Harvey, or Chris D'Aurnard either?
