I can't get to sleep please help?

I have school tomorrow and I read that story where the camel spider was found in Manchester, England after a paratrooper brought it home from Afghanistan.

Please help.

I am so scared, I have the biggest phobia of spiders ever, I start crying where I see them. It's so stupid but I can't help it.

I feel so stiff and I keep imagining a spider will attack me.

I want to go asleep but I can't, I don't want to get into bed in case a spider is there now.

Please help me get over my fear, I will so sick and scared :(

Well first, you have been hearing some of the wild tales from bored soldiers in the middle east.

It would be nearly impossible for a camel spider to survive such a trip, and the one that was found was likely a domestic species. Yes, these critters can be found worldwide.

These arachnids are not true spiders. they produce no venom and are considered harmless.

Unless you live in an area where there are LOTS of them, the odds of finding one indoors is nil.

Where I lived in the southwest US, they are everywhere and I used to get one or two in the house every season.(usually August) These critters don't attack people, they just don't. If anything, they are very skittish and run from you. They can be a little combative trying to sweep them back outside because they are quick to defend themselves. They do have powerful mouth parts, and can inflict a rather painful bite, but only if you go grabbing them or provoking them.

Trust me, you don't have one in your house, and if you did, don't worry about it, it isn't going to harm you at all.

You might consider doing something about your phobia, If you were familiar with spiders, you would see there is nothing to fear of them, even the camel spiders.(we call them sun spiders)

Here is a small one being provoked:

  • I sure hope it doesn't spread to the south-east..

Anyway, when I see a spider, I usually create a ''tent'' around me or hide under my covers and wear as much clothes as possible. I cry, scream when I see a spider and i'm pretty sure a spider won't just enter your home and attack you. If there's only 1 spider found, I doubt it will enter your house. You have nothing to worry about.
