why can't immune system unable to fend off polio virus?

looked all over the internet and I can't seem to find why polio is incurable, specifically makes it able to evade the body's secondary immune response, macrophages, fever, nk cells. ect.

    In the vast majority of cases, the immune system does successfully fight the polio virus. In fact, in up to 95% of cases, the immune system does such a good job, the person doesn't notice any symptoms at all, not even mild cold symptoms.
