Dog limping, throwing up, and has a bump on nose, what's wrong with him?

My dog started limping about a month ago, he doesn't seem to want to put very much weight on his back legs, but it isn't always the same one. Took him to the vet and they prescribed him Rimadyl (like doggy tylenol). Continued to limp, took him back about a week later to get him x-rays. The x-rays didn't reveal any problems, the vet said it's probably just a soft tissue injury and that maybe he has just been overdoing it and suggested to continue to give him the meds and to rest him. I just gave him the meds when he seemed like he needed it. He seemed to be doing much better until yesterday. He threw up 3 times in the morning. Started crying and limping again later on then threw up 3 more times at night after getting into my roommates room and eating her chinese food. Talked to the vet on the phone and she seems to think that the limping and vomiting are unrelated and that he probably just threw up at night because he ate the Chinese food and that in the morning when he threw up it was probably just from getting into something else maybe in the backyard? She suggested that I just wait it out to see how he does and to see if he throws up again. He seemed ok today, wasn't very active though, but we didn't sleep very much last night so I'm not surprised by that. But then tonight I discovered a bump on his nose, it's like maybe a quarter sized, and underneath the skin, not super obvious. He lets me touch it lightly it doesn't seem to hurt him when I touch it. I don't know if I should take him to the vet AGAIN which is getting really expensive and doesn't seem to be helping, or if I'm just worrying too much and should just wait it out like the vet suggested. What could be wrong with him? Do you think all these symptoms are related? What should I do? Please help!

Update:

What do you think it is Oki?! Please tell me! My dog has only just turned 2, I really hope he will be living much much longer. Yeah I had to insist that my dog get x-rays too, even though they didn't find anything at least I got to rule that out. The bump seems to be growing too, I only found it like a few hours ago. I wanted to keep going to the same vet because they know all my dogs medical history. But lately they are annoying me pretty much saying that it is probably nothing. I think I might call them again for one last time or go to a different vet.

Update 2:

No she didn't test for lyme disease, last time I talked on the phone with her I did mention it, she said she's still convinced that it's a soft tissue injury (but I don't think it is since he limps seemingly randomly) but that we could test for it if I want, but she suggested I wait a few days, but since he grew that bump I don't think I can wait a few days. That's what I'm unhappy with at my vet right now is that I always seem to be the one suggesting problems, they don't seem to be diagnosing it well, that's why I thought I should go on yahoo answers to get opinions on what it might be so I can mention it to my vet.

If the bump is growing in a few hours, it's not cancer. If it's soft and squishy and somewhat round, it's probably an infection which might be what's making him throw up. If it's just a general all around swelling with no liquid feeling, he may have got bitten by something like a bee or a spider.

Edit: I found this article which says that a dog may show shifting leg lameness (limping changes from leg to leg) and vomiting with Lyme Disease. Did you Dr. do a lyme/tick-borne illness blood test?

It's impossible to diagnose a dog over the internet.. I have a six year old dog that was in obvious pain, except when I took him to the vet, when he would man up and not show any pain, no matter how the vet poked or prodded him. I was told "soft tissue injury" too when they couldn't find anything else. They kept sending me home with pain meds saying "give it another week". At home he would sit next to me shuddering and letting out little screams of pain...but it seemed like the vet thought I was making it up because he didn't show pain in their office. Finally I demanded an x-ray and they found he had severe spondylosis (arthritis in his spine). They weren't looking for anything like that because of his age, but if I hadn't insisted on an x-ray, they would never have found it.

My point is that you know your dog better than anyone...do you think it's a soft tissue injury that will go away on it's own? I don't think you do. I'd take him back to the vet and insist that they do more testing...ultra sound, blood tests, whatever. Clearly something is wrong with him and the odds of him vomiting twice in one day from two entirely unrelated food incidents is unlikely. If you don't think this vet is good enough (they aren't all brilliant) then try a different vet. I know it's expensive, but he's suffering and you really have to advocate for him until they find the problem. Good luck with him, and I hope they find and fix the problem soon.

the vet is terrible. way too many "probablys". a rule of diagnosis is that is far more like to be caused through the same thing then separate problems. the odds for separate Multi problems are very slim. not impossible though. go to a different vet, im not gonna say what i think it is. but it doesnt sound like you have long left with your companion. i hope its not what im thinking for you and your dogs sake.

your dog needs to see another vet from a different place. get more tests done. but please dont keep going back too that vet. they sound very incompetent

well the dude with jacks pic has a similar opinion to me. i think its either cancer in the bone or lymph (there are other possibilities). the other thing could be a wide spread infection that started in the dogs legs or pelvis and built up over time. im no expert or vet. i just do alot of self teaching. it can help, but is not an absolute. i dont want to scare you, i just want you to be aware. it could be Minor too. but it needs more treatment and attention from a vet whos willing.
