My book sounds similar to the Hunger Games?

Heres the problem:

- North america is split into four different parts

- the government controls everyone

- the main girl falls in love with a boy named Peter (i cannot change his name now)

- Peter goes missing and when he returns he's been brainwashed to insanity

- theres a boy name Finn

thats about it

also, i came up with the idea for this BEFORE i knew the hunger games existed -_-

Update:

im asking what should i change about it?

I don't think it is that similar, all you need to do is change the names. I know you say you can't do that now but it's an easy way to get away from the 'similarities'.

North America is split into four different parts - I wouldn't worry about this, this just sounds like the premise of a dystopian book and THG wasn't the first one of those!

The government controls everyone - same point as above. It's about HOW they control everyone that you can make different.

Peter goes missing and when he returns he's been brainwashed to insanity - this is the main similarity I would say as it's to do with plot. How and Why does Peter go missing? Who captures him? How is he insane? Make sure all of these points are different to The Hunger Games. Don't have him being taken by the government. Make sure your book is about something different. Chances are if you thought up the idea before THG yours will be about something totally different anyway.

    Good luck!

Draco Malfoy writes books? Here I thought he was just some jerky Slytherin douche. Haha, just kidding.

Yeah, that is basically Hunger Games story. Maybe try use a different idea. Modify stuff.

Example: North America is divided into two parts. One part is totalitarian and the other part isn't. the non-totalitarian part tries to make the totalitarian part a democratic country. Guy called Peter is a son of a important politician in the democratic part. He gets kidnapped by the evil part. girl falls in love with him. Boy called Finn turns out to be girl's best friend and becomes jealous.

No idea is original, no matter what. Not even the hunger games! There will always be something like it. Anyway, I know you said you can't, but changing peter's name is the best thing to do. And besides that it sounds like it could be a completely different story.

Yeah, it's pretty close, but you can take it a different direction. Give it a big twist...You don't have people fighting to the death, so I think you're ok. This happens to me a lot. Maybe Peter can get amnesia? Change Finn's name....Flinn maybe? The girl could go looking for Peter with Flinn.

Its unfortunate that you find this idea is already taken. Try to find something new because it is very similar to the hunger games.

Make it so that Finn and the girl go out to look for Peter. Make her fall in love with Finn.

Okay... What about it? What are you asking?

Wow, I'm assuming you're a troll or some otherwise bored kid... I apologize if you aren't, but that sounds exactly like the Hunger Games.
