CricSec-How has YA helped or sidetracked you as a user?
(1) I rediscovered my writing skills, as I was getting bad at writing, due to the lack of practice.
(2) Meeting people from across the world, in a good or some bad ways, has helped form friendships.
(3) Gained lots of knowledge & shared knowledge with others over the years.
(4) How has YA benefited you or it has done otherwise, as question posted by PQR inspired me to ask this from fellow users.
BQ: Do you think that Sehwag deserves another chance, i.e. pitch at Mohali might help him come out of the lean patch.
Or you think that his ouster was overdue & youngsters need to be groomed for bigger battles ahead?
Do you think that a VETO system be used for big decisions, leaving it to an independent official, who looks after the team personnel, before they get thrown out, like Sehwag is. Would it help or not ?

All of the above.
Sehwag does not deserve any more chances.
He should join the retirees in IPL,and retire with a fortune.
After all, what is there after cricket?
- Bleed Blue!Lv 58 years ago
All of the reasons!
1)It looked as if my writing skills would catch rust and poof! Fortunately for me, Y!A has given me a breather there!
2) Socializing is something I love and knowing about different people from all over the globe can't get better if you are on Y!A. :)
3) I love to share what I know and am aware of! Half measures arent exactly my specialty! On the same note, due credit to all the fellow users here who have taken pains in answering not only mine but also every inquisitor's Qs with utmost care and precision! Of course, I have no qualms breeding against those who stick out a finger at trolling miscreants! :p
4) Exchange of ideas, promotion of brotherhood (and all such civics stuff) is quite rampant here! That's what makes Y!A so special for me and its a part of the daily humdrum! :)
BQ - Sehwag doesn't deserve any.more chances! For Pete's sake, answer this serious dilemma of mine! How can one expect a 34 year old veteran who encounters vision problems, face 140 kph deliveries like he used to in the formative years of his career?
Talk about hand eye co ordination! Where is the hand?
Over his face, probably brooding over his dismissal, when the ball rummages through the gate every now and then!
Where is the eye speed and reflexes that are soo very essential if a batter is technically impaired of using his feet?
Shrouded in oblivion!
Where is the co ordination?
Back home safely beshielded under the lock and key, 'I presume'!
Is he young enough to try and slog his slothful approach in the nets?
I had bet on the possibility that he would suffer from a concussion if he would train too hard! :p
Ok! No offence to all the Nawab Fans here but all in all, IMHO, its time for Sehwag to hang up his boots! They have worn out a bit too much! He should concentrate more on the shorter formats as temperament isn't always Sehwag's plus!
His ouster was thus, overdue and keeping in mind the SA tour and WC 2015, the youngsters who have been warming the benches for an insanely prolonged stretch of time, need to be groomed for these endeavours!
VETO system?
Very Eminent in Totalling Ousters? :p
I don't think such a system would make much of a sense! If the concerned cricketer had the right 'acquaintances', it would always hinder a worthy candidate in a team! So, nothing doing of this sort!
@ Syamantak - Glad to be of help! :)
It is 'Writing long answers 'HAS' improved my grammar!' :p :p
Lovely coincidence that you speak of improving your grammar and err in the very same line! :p
@HDB - Coincidence it is! I didn't mean to be fastidious! Thanx for the pointer! :)
Even Tendulkar fails to score sometimes! :p
@SbS - I guess I was! :p
Cheers! :)

Similar to yours, there is alot when it comes to discussing about cricket. In YA am able to do share my views and also view others and get into some healthy banters at times.I have made so many good friends from different parts of the world in my last 5 years of YA journey. Not just the cricket section also S&D section is one I like to go often bcoz people with serious issues ask Q's there and there's hardly a spammer Q,just wish cricket section would be like that too with less spams.I miss so many old contacts but love the fact that good number of users are still keeping this section alive. So YA is something am glad am a part of.Getting to subquestions Sehwag is horribly out of form. It's hurting to say this as his great fan but he looks lot less than a pale shadow of himself. His hand-eye coordination and the timing is missing.Whatever time he spends in the crease he seems at sea against the bowlers. So he deserve to be dropped. As per your idea of VETO I think its always better to take such decisions in group panel rather than giving the right a single person.

1. A lot of writing practice tbh. Without Y!A I get very little scope for writing compositions. Writing long answers have improved my grammar. Also, after reading Harmit's answers, I strengthen my vocabulary.
2. I love to meet new people. Here there are so many users who make life for interesting. There is life on the internet other than Facebook! I live alone mostly so this helps me in overcoming loneliness. Also, I don't get along well with many school mates.
3. Gained a lot of knowledge. Cricketing knowledge has improved. Sometimes I get a lot of Math problems from the Mathematics section. Meeting fellow atheists in the R&S section is also pleasing.
4. Y!A has benefited me a lot. The ^above points say so.
BQ: IMO, there is no use of scoring on a belter and then fail on difficult ones. His last two centuries came on the road of Motera. What is the use of that?
He should've been dropped before Gambhir IMO. Gambhir was still useful in scoring some fifties here & there.
VETO power? Nah, its look idiotic. You never know that 'person' may be biased.
Regards.

Mine are also mostly similar to yours...
(1) It largely improved my English, not just writing skills. Y!A is the main reason I honed my English skills in last 2/3 years or so... I was just average (at times below average) before coming here.
(2) It's rather amazing, thrilling and refreshing experience to meet lot of friends all around the world. Never experienced that before. Btw not in bad ways. It has been all good for me.
(3) Gained lot of knowledge about cricket. Learned about different view ports and opinions.
(4) I am so glad to have an opportunity to represent my country. Contribute and comment from Sri Lanka's prospective about cricket topics. Some Lankans may not realize this but I am the neutralize factor and the reason why Sri Lanka is not being targeted here like good old days when someone else was mainly representing Sri Lanka especially when it comes to the relationship between Sri Lankan and Indian fans..
So I can proudly say that I've done something for my country!
(5) Learned how to participate in healthy debates, earn respect, treat everyone with respect and learned how to be a part of an internet discussion based forum.
BQ:- I am ok with him getting another chance as India is already leading in the series.
Source(s): I'll reply to you soon on ईमेल. - 8 years ago
All three points you've mentioned.
On the basis of his performance till second test, he doesn't deserve further chances. Instead of looking help from Mohali pitch, he should try to overcome his lack of confidence by scoring some amount of runs. If he scored a century in Mohali, even that couldn't be called a guaranty that he is back in the form, so letting him play would not be a permanent solution. It will harm the team. He needs to do lot of practice with specs to get habitual with them. If he performs exceptionally well in domestic cricket during April to December then his name can be considered to be select on South Africa tour but the road seems very tough. With old age and weak-vision, I don't think he can do that.
I don't think that dropping an out of form cricketer is a strange decision. Sehwag scored his overseas century five years ago. Looking into future (SA), his exclusion from the playing squad is correct decision. We cant launch a brand new youngster directly on SA pitch. We should give him at-least two test matches experience at home. SO I do agree with selectors completely.

Hi TJ,
Welcome back. Probably more sidetracked than anything to be honest, but it's still a good way to interact with fellow cricket tragics. I haven't had time to visit here as much as I used to, but I've made a commitment to run the tipping competition, so I come on to check for updates mostly.
With Sehwag, India are in a strong batting position at the moment. It would be a good time for the team to start experimenting around with new players.
Edit: @ Harmit - think you just got flamed by HDB mate. :-)

Dear Friend Dinith. I'm from India. What if I create 5 accounts pretending to be an Australian (Or a resident of any other country other than India and SriLanka) and start abusing SriLankans? Is this bit enough to convince you to start hating Australia? Purest logic here in Y!A is that we don't know who is who. One must not let a handful of people to decide ones love or hate for a country and its people. Anyways, you're wiser and sensible than me. You know better. And dear TJ, please consider the substance of the above para as a reply to your question. Thankyou.

I learn new words and idioms everyday here, some of them don't even exist.
Time to drop Sehwag, he has been failing for too long now.
Harmit: If we are going to be pedantic, it is 'coincidence' not 'co incidence'. Ironic that you make a mistake trying to correct another's English.

i am here since 10 February
only 26 days
but it has helped me very much
it increased my knowledge
it improved my English very much as i was average before coming to this site only in English but now i know this language better than anyone else in my secondary school but now also it is not very great
it helped me to know about different countries, their culture, tradition etc.
and it has made me a little more outspoken
back up question:after the selection is over, there is no need to ask this stupid question
