Is there a way to add 1 to each cell in a column?
Say I have a bunch of cells in a column with measurements, like

7
etc.,
and I want to somehow add one to each cell, like

Is there a shortcut for doing that more efficiently than going back and retyping in each box myself?

Yes, you can... say you have cell A1 with the number '5'. If you go to cell A2 and enter the formula '=A1+1'... the result will be 6....whatever is in A1 plus the value of 1.
