Vegetarians/Vegans do you believe in eating fake meats?

I used to eat fake meats, but I stopped because then I found myself craving the actual meat rather than just morningstar meats and fake meats. What's your two cents?

My 2 cents worth? Eating them is a fact. Belief doesn't come into it. Perhaps your question should read 'do you approve in eating fake meat'. Sorry, but the word 'belief' denotes that there is an element of faith in it whereas, since I eat them myself, I know that it's actually a fact.

As long as an animal didn't die, then I'll continue to eat them, they certainly don't make me want to go back to eating real meat.

Hell yeah I believe in eating fake meats. I just ate some substitute chicken last night that was so good, I wondered why I'd been eating the real thing all my life. Although some of it can be kind of expensive, it's just comforting to know you're not supporting an evil industry.

To be honest, I don't eat much Morningstar, but I do eat a lot of Quorn products, and I don't feel the least bit guilty.

I think it makes no sense to eat the fake meats. Like if you don't want to eat meat why would you eat the fake one? I have tried the morning star ribs when I was starting out as a vegetarian and I was disgusted how similar it tastes to meat, if you like meat then that is fine but it makes no sense you would want to be a vegetarian then. Anyways I am a vegetarian who became one because I was absolutely repulsed by the taste of meat so that could impact my answer dramatically.

False meats made it feasible for me to grow to be a vegetarian. Dwelling on a meat-established food plan for close to 30 years, I had no idea how to make a meal with out meat. Now that i've been veggie for over a 12 months, i'm starting to eat much less and no more alternative. I'll in most cases continually use them to some extent although... I like my candy n sour chik'n and brocolli "red meat" and all that stuff. IMO, just when you consider that I not consume meat does not imply I are not able to benefit from the identical ingredients I always have. Aside from helping meat-eaters go veg, fake meats also enable veggies to "fit in" with meat eaters. In the event you go to a bbq, that you would be able to comfortably take along a veggie burger to flop on the grill. Lastly, not all false meats are created equal. Even as i might agree with you that Tofurkey sucks, some of the Morningstar Farms products genuinely taste higher than the "actual" thing, IMO. Their chik'n nuggets and their sausage links are each, IMO, better than actual ones. The style is equal, the feel is equal, however there may be on no account any gristle or any other "mystery meat" to crunch into to your first chew. You must are trying them! Actually, once I first went veggie.. I made the nuggets one night time and my bf on the time actually argued with me that they were actual hen. He didn't believe me until I showed him the field! Their corndogs are really just right too (I dont' feel anybody would tell the difference) for these days you consider like a "convenience" meals.

Not too often. I have some "burger patties" in the freezer but just discovered through another question and answer they have eggs and milk. I use tofu in my recipes instead of meat. I've tried every brand of fake hot dog and some of the sausages but I don't like any of them. Never thought of trying the corn dogs. Maybe i"ll give them a try next football season.

I don't believe that faux meat is a good idea. Choosing a different diet ought to mean more than just replacing one thing with another. I'm not so sure either, that all this soy is good for us.

Soy has a lot of toxins.

Soy is a gmo suspect food.

Supporting the major food suppliers seems out of alignment with conscious eating.

And it doesn't taste as good as meat, either.

Think of all the food coloring that is required to make soya look like bacon. Ugh.

    No thanks.

There is no such thing is fake meat. It's meat substitute and is usually soy derived.

I don't really like all that processed stuff so I make my own burgers out of lentils or hummus and veggies.

When I first became vegetarian 17 years ago, I ate the hell out of Boca burgers, though. Now that I've made homemade burgers, they taste gross to me.

At the moment I'm vegetarian, on my way to becoming vegan, and I do eat quorn even though most of the products say they contain egg and/or milk. I don't feel too bad as I'm sure that the egg and milk used is free range seeing as it is more cruelty free than eating animals.

I don't have a "belief" one way or the other. I don't eat them, but I've never heard of them being a "gateway" food. (You start out with Quorn. Before long you're on a street corner looking for chicken nuggets...)
