Non trinitarians, mormons, JWs how do u explain this contradiction in the bible?

As a trinitarian its no issue for me. We cant see the Father, but we can see Jesus or Holy Spirit.

No hostility in my question to u im just curious.

Exodus 33:20 But," he said, "you cannot see my face, for no one may see me and live."

John 1:18 No one has ever seen God, BUT GOD the One and Only, who IS AT the Father's side, has made Him known (btw this is the verse id use to back up the trinitarians answer).

VS

Exodus 33:11, "And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle."

The bible is filled with way to many metaphors and contradictions.

Read the Quran, it is simple to read and makes more sense.

The Bible is full of what appear to be contradictions. Many of these are due to mistranslations and other errors that have taken place over the last two millennia. Some are due to disagreements about interpretation of the scripture. May of these are cleared up in the latter-day revelations received by Joseph Smith. If you don't believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet, you just have to do the best you can to figure out what the truth is, and pray about it. However, on this particular question, I think there are enough scriptures that clearly indicate that men have seen God, even face to face as a man talks to another man. The first reference below is from a non-Mormon source.

i'm valuable you have an answer for the Acts 9:7 and Acts 22:9 undertaking. Did those with Saul/Paul at his conversion hear a voice? ACT 9:7 And the lads which journeyed with him stood speechless, listening to a voice, yet seeing no guy. ACT 22:9 and that they that have been with me observed certainly the easy, and have been afraid; yet they heard no longer the voice of him that spake to me. Your answer might probable no longer convince an atheist who did no longer have faith the Bible first of all. Likewise there are suggestions to the questions you improve. besides the indisputable fact that, a guy or woman who already "knows" the e book of Mormon isn't actual might probable no longer be persuaded. a guy or woman who's surely searching for with an open suggestions could be persuaded by your reaction on the topic of Acts and the solutions got here upon here with reference to the purported e book of Mormon contradictions

Remember that God had to put His hand over Moses when He went by, so He didn't actually see His face. When the Scripture says that God spake unto Moses face to face, it is an idiom, figure of speech, the passage in question is showing how personal God was in His relationship with Moses. If you look it up in any Bible commentary, you will see that is easy to understand and not a contradiction.

Actually, there are several examples of people seeing God in the Bible. Some even thought that they would die.

"And there arose not a prophet since in Israel like unto Moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, "

    (Deuteronomy 34:10)

According to this verse in Numbers, it wasn't just a figure of speech.

"With him will I speak mouth to mouth, even apparently, and not in dark speeches; and the similitude of the Lord shall he behold: wherefore then were ye not afraid to speak against my servant Moses? "

    (Numbers 12:8)

Moses wasn't the only one to see God.

In Exodus 24:9-11 seventy four people saw God.

Exodus 19:11 suggests that not everyone dies - just some.

In Genesis 32:30, it says: "And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: for I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved. " Apparently he was afraid of dieing too.

Moses was fearful of seeing the face of God at first, but he apparently overcame his fear.

    Solomon saw God twice.

"And the Lord was angry with Solomon, because his heart was turned from the Lord God of Israel, which had appeared unto him twice, "

    (1Kings 11:9)

Isaiah also saw God Isaiah 6:5

"Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts. "

Several other prophets have seen God, and there is one case where a couple saw God and worried that they would die (Judges 13:22). Apparently the idea is pervasive, although incorrect. In Psalms 27:8 the Lord commands us to seek his face. Jesus taught that the pure in heart would see God.

"Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. " (Matthew 5:8)

Stephen saw Jesus on the right hand of God. (Acts 7:56)

Jesus taught that we should get to know God, that we might have everlasting life.

"And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent." (John 17:3)

There is no contradiction. To speak to someone as a friend does not necessarily mean you are looking into their face. What if one of you was blind? God has spoken to several people personally. There would be no way for them to see him with their eyes as he does not have a physical form. See?

A more accurate translation of John 1:18 is - "No man has seen God at any time, the only begotten god who is in the bosom position with the Father is the one that has explained Him."

Jesus is called the only begotten because he is the only thing that Jehovah God created with His own hands. Jesus, then ,at God's direction, created everything else. He is rightfully called a god in relation to us. The bible at various times calls humans, angels and even Satan - gods.

You could also use the scripture where Jesus says, the father and I are one to promote the trinity but then it would be awkward because if you turn a few pages you will see that Paul said that he and Apollo were one and if you turn a few more pages, you will see that the apostles said they were one. Common sense tells you that all of them meant that they were one in thought and purpose, not co-joined at the hip.

All of us are stupid compared to God but the bible says to keep seeking wisdom and eventually we will obtain it.

There is no contradiction. The scripture says exactly what it means, no one can see God's face and live, and no one has ever seen God.

Jesus is God's son, the only-begotten (beget means to create), thus he was the only direct creation by his Father Jehovah.

This is only a contradiction to those who claim that God came to earth, and who falsely teach that Jesus is God.

Reason on the scriptures. Mediate on what it is telling you.

    JB Phillips translation

    John 1

14-18 So the word of God became a human being and lived among us. We saw his splendour (the splendour as of a father’s only son), full of grace and truth. And it was about him that John stood up and testified, exclaiming: “Here is the one I was speaking about when I said that although he would come after me he would always be in front of me; for he existed before I was born!” Indeed, every one of us has shared in his riches—there is a grace in our lives because of his grace. For while the Law was given by Moses, love and truth came through Jesus Christ. It is true that no one has ever seen God at any time. Yet the divine and only Son, who lives in the closest intimacy with the Father, has made him known.

    Young's Literal translation

18 God no one hath ever seen; the only begotten Son, who is on the bosom of the Father -- he did declare.

That does not contradict Exodus. Why?

Because Paul says that what was given to Moses was through angels. All the manifestations were angels representing Jehovah God. Even the burning bush was via an angel.

(Acts 7:30-36) 30 “And when forty years were fulfilled, there appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Si′nai an angel in the fiery flame of a thornbush. 31 Now when Moses saw it he marveled at the sight. But as he was approaching to investigate, Jehovah’s voice came, 32 ‘I am the God of your forefathers, the God of Abraham and of Isaac and of Jacob.’ Seized with trembling, Moses did not dare to investigate further. 33 Jehovah said to him, ‘Take the sandals off your feet, for the place on which you are standing is holy ground. 34 I have certainly seen the wrongful treatment of my people who are in Egypt, and I have heard their groaning and I have come down to deliver them. And now come, I will send you off to Egypt.’ 35 This Moses, whom they disowned, saying, ‘Who appointed you ruler and judge?’ this man God sent off as both ruler and deliverer by the hand of the angel that appeared to him in the thornbush. 36 This man led them out after doing portents and signs in Egypt and in the Red Sea and in the wilderness for forty years.

(Hebrews 2:2-4) 2 For if the word spoken through angels proved to be firm, and every transgression and disobedient act received a retribution in harmony with justice; 3 how shall we escape if we have neglected a salvation of such greatness in that it began to be spoken through [our] Lord and was verified for us by those who heard him, 4 while God joined in bearing witness with signs as well as portents and various powerful works and with distributions of holy spirit according to his will?

God's glory is too great for us to see him with our natural eyes and live. To see God while you are still alive in the flesh you must be temporarily transfigured or have an out of body experience, otherwise you would die.
