How to get rid of malware?
I recently got some malware on my computer, it changed my home page, slowed down my computer and made it so there are advertisements on certain pages now. I ran a few programs and was able to get rid of some of it, I was able to alter my home page and speed my computer back up a little bit. However, there are still advertisements left, although not as many, and my computer is still running a little slow. What can I do to get rid of this?
@okc I ran it, still have ads.

search "spybot search and destory" and install. This will almost always work but the scan can take up to 20 mins
The only reason is say put adw on 1st is that it is portable and helped me but so did spybot S/d

Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is a very good malware remover:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_...
However, it cannot undo any changes that were already made by malware on your browsers. You still have to uninstall anything that may have been installed under the Control Panel > Installed programs and probably have to reset your browser also.
To reset your browser follow these:
A. Internet Explorer:
Close or exit IE. Click on Start ► Control Panel ► Network and Internet ► Internet Options ► Advanced ► Restore advanced settings ► Reset ► Delete personal settings ► Reset.
B. Firefox:
Click on Tools or the orange Firefox tab ► Help ► Restart with Add-ons disabled. You can also close Firefox. Hold Shift key while you click on Firefox shortcut. Select 'Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults' ► 'Make changes and restart'.
You may also click on the orange Firefox tab ► Help: Troubleshooting Information ► Reset Firefox.
C. Google Chrome:
Close or exit Google Chrome.
Sign in to your Google account if you want to back up your bookmarks and saved passwords online. Exit Google Chrome and open Windows Explorer.
For Windows XP type the following in the address box and press Enter:
%USERPROFILE% \ Local Settings \ Application Data \ Google \ Chrome \ Application
Remove the SPACEs before and after the "\". I put them there because Y!A cuts off long words here.
You may also go to C: ► Documents and Settings ► YourUserName ► Local Settings ► Application Data ► Google ► Chrome ► Application
Delete the zero byte file named "First Run".
For Windows Vista or 7 type the following in the address box and press Enter:
%LOCALAPPDATA% \ Google \ Chrome \ Application
Remove the SPACEs before and after the "\". I put them there because Y!A cuts off long words here.
You may also go to C: ► Users ► YourUserName ► AppData ► Local ► Google ► Chrome ► Application
Delete the zero byte file named "First Run".
If that still didn't fix it, do a full uninstall in advanced mode using Revo Uninstaller and then reinstall the latest version of Google Chrome:

While (like usual) I agree with most of what Simply RED stated, I will add that these two following programs are two of the best and FREE too, scanners for malware and they should be able to help you
MalwareBytes ( http://www.malwarebytes.org/ ) And Super Anti-Spyware ( http://www.superantispyware.com/ )
Spybot USE TO be great years ago, though I have seen it's detection rate fall far in the past number of years.
