I need a free text editor, like Dreamweaver or Sublime Text. Any suggestions? Things that have worked for you?

Ok, so a friend and I have decided to make a website, and for now, I'm just trying to work out some of the code, so we can start really building it. But my school laptop (the computer I'm using) doesn't have Dreamweaver, and Sublime only gave me a trial. So, I need a program, that is free, but also useful, that I can use to work on my coding for my website.

I might also be using this program to work on my school projects, because I'm in a Website Creation and Design class.

So, any suggestions? Preferably programs you can vouch for, or have used.

Thanks, I appreciate it.

Notepad++. Gets great reviews all the time. Has vocabulary for HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP and also downloadable add-ons.

I have used it and can vouch for its ability. It makes your code organised and neat.

You can run it off your USB, flashdrive, Ipod and it is small. It also gets updated frequently and is in many languages.

Notepad is the wonderful text fabric editor and NVU is the wonderful unfastened option to Dreamweaver. NVU - finally! an entire cyber web Authoring gadget for Linux workstation, Microsoft domicile windows and Macintosh customers to rival classes like FrontPage and Dreamweaver. Nvu (reported N-view, for a "new view") makes coping with a cyber web web site a snap.

I think Aptana Studio (free) will get the job done although PHPStorm (not free) is my favorite for making websites with. I guess some people like netbeans, but I hate it cuz it's slow as balls

    Source(s): http://aptana.com/ http://www.jetbrains.com/phpstorm/ hint: google embrace phpstorm
