There is no "patch". The PS3 slim and it's successors are internally made to not support PS2 games. As the other person said, if you want to play a PS2 game you have to download it off the PSN store. Otherwise, you can't play it off the disc.

regrettably, no. Sony want human beings to view the PS3 as a next gen console for enjoying next gen video games, they gained't deliver decrease back backwards compatibility. it fairly is in uncomplicated terms a wager yet i think of it fairly is fairly in all probability they'll attempt convert some PS2 video games for PSN acquire alongside with a firmware replace, and that those video games will play on any PS3, yet they gained't make yet another one that is backwards properly suited with PS2 discs. The marketplace desires to place an end to human beings procuring and advertising pre-owned video games, by skill of making them acquire in uncomplicated terms, they'll take a huge step in the direction of putting an end to that for PS3 video games. yet whilst they do try this, they gained't do it until whilst they have stopped making PS2's and PS2 video games and ports:)

No, there is no way of playing PS2 games on the PS3 you have unless it is one downloaded from the PlayStation Store.
