Any Reason why Army Recruiter did this?

I mean he pretty much told my older brother not to join and go into college instead , and he failed completely in college I think looking back at it now he could have had a way better life in the military , and it was also a childhood dream to be in it , I mean when we were both kids we both adored the men in the military hell I'm thinking of enlisting into the marines , probably signing the papers to go too boot camp before graduation , but do ya think the recruiter truly knew my brother wasn't going to be good in the military , because I don't think they can predict the future , it just sounds odd because they totally wanted me to join :) aren't they suppose to encourage you to join?

Update:

I know I think its confusing too , that's why I asked this question >.<

From what I see the recruiter told your brother to go to college because there was something about your brother medically or legally that permanently disqualified him from joining the Army.

What is keeping your brother from trying to enlist now?

i think you are getting confused, recruiters will not discourage people from joining unless, he is ineligible to join. Joining the military, unprepared will be disastrous, going to college unprepared will also have severe consequences, i know because im paying the price for it right now,

if you think you should join, then go ahead, but it seems like your brother dint tell you everything, im pretty sure he would get dq for some reason.

I never heard of a recruiter telling people not to join the military before. Their job is to get you in, not to keep you out.

Well the recruiter must have had some to reason to say something like that because their job is to encourage people to join and meet their quota

The recruiters are getting more people then they need right now too with the bad economy.

I have a feeling there is more to the story. Did he do bad on the ASVAB, does he have some medical or legal issue? Was he being difficult on what MOS he wanted? There has to be more to it.

He probably told your brother that getting a college degree was ideal for the Military and you're just exaggerating the story.

Sweety if God wants this for him than nothing can stop him from joining, it may take time, but with patients, he will join. Have him talk to the recruiters Chain of Command. He may not be telling you that he has something that disqualifies him, so he can go to another service.

maybe he did badly on the ASVAB? or the physical and this was the recruiters's nice way of saying "you don't qualify"

    ... maybe..
