How can I stop spam bots on my phpBB forum?
I'm trying to get a website going, but:
On my main site page, I've been able to do a simple registration option where users have to answer a question of whether they are a spam bot or not and this is somewhat effective.
However, on the phpBB forum, I'm unable to stop spam accounts being created. It's up to 5000 in a few months. I've enabled the spam bot counter-measures with a 3D image verification but this isn't effective. Can someone give me instructions (e.g. a site) on how to best stop this? I'm inexperienced with phpBB and I'm struggling to find a way of setting up an add-in for this.
Secondly, how can I get rid of all the spam bots? I'm only able to delete users page by page which is not efficient. I can't delete the user groups as they're the default ones. Again, clear instructions would be helpful.

You need to have some sort of account 'verification' procedure.
The obvious start is that the applicant must give a non-public provider email address (i.e. something other than a yahoo, gmail, hotmail etc) account to which you send a 'verification' key and they must enter the key in order to activate the account within X days or it's automatically deleted ..
Since you state 'B2B' that implies all your applicants will have Business names & registration numbers you can ask for .. and then 'look up' the name & no. on the Companies House site to check they are valid ..
You might also be able to do something with HTTPS (Certificates) = again something that a Business will have ...
