What would you do if a 21 year old young doctor got your 16 year old daughter pregnant?

What would you do if a 21 year old young doctor got your 16 year old daughter pregnant? Let's say that she was totally okay with it, and didn't mean to get pregnant but it just happened. Let's say the doctor and her were in love and he said that he'd support her 100%, and that what happened between them was totally consensual, and that he truly loved her and wasn't taking advantage of her. What would you do as a parents if this happened to you?

I know that most doctors won't be as young as 21, but let's just say he was.

    Pretty specific for a hypothetical.

There is no "consensual" when a minor is involved.

Statutory rape laws are there to protect minors from adults who are interested in having intimate relations with them. The laws state that legally, no minor can make that choice. Period.

In spite of the fact that some minors are developed physically, they are not developed emotionally or mentally enough to handle all that comes with a physical relationship. Statutory rape laws are present in every state, every country around the globe. When one is arrested and convicted of statutory rape, he faces a lengthy jail term, and will forever more be labeled as a sex offender. That means that for the rest of his life he has to register as a sex offender annually. He will be precluded from ever living within 500 feet of any playground or school. He will have to alert any/all neighbours of his sex-offender status. He has to inform every employer and/or future employer that he is a convicted sex offender. He will be monitored for a period of time after prison, as well as impromptu visits from his parole officer.

In cases where the minor is actually pregnant, (vs. alleged molestation or lewd acts with a minor), that ups the ante. The phrase "fifteen will get you twenty" is accurate. That means when an adult male has intercourse with a minor he will get twenty years in jail. There are minimum jail terms for sex offenders and that would be at least 15 yrs.

Go to any one of the many sex-offender locator websites and you will see what happens to sex offenders. Meagan's Law and Polly Klaas Foundation are just two of many. Anyone (anywhere) can type in their street address and every registered sex offender within a 5 - 10 mile radius will be named, with current photo, and details of his arrest/conviction and status. (as well as his actual address and where he works).

Your question is romanticized and sugar-coated. "..let's say she was totally okay with it...in love..support her..consensual'..blahblahblah".. However this hypothetical adult male is clearly not an MD. One could possibly be in medical school but if he was ignorant to statutory rape laws and mandatory jail sentences as well as permanently tagged as a sex offender; he's not very bright. If this adult male intends to practice medicine he will have a very difficult time (if not impossible) being employed by any hospital or large medical group. The hospital administration(s) would never agree to having a convicted sex offender on staff as a physician. Being in prison for statutory rape for 15 yrs. means that a 21 yr. old would be much older 36 yrs. old when he steps out of prison. One is not compensated for being in prison so that pretty much eliminates any/all possibility of supporting anyone. Securing any position in any capacity as a physician is all but obliterated.

Again, it is irrelevant if a minor claims to have entered into a physical relationship willingly because in the eyes of the law, that is a mute point. No minor can make that decision and when an adult has sex with that minor, he will go to jail. Parents (or anyone) that were aware of the statutory rape face arrest themselves, btw.

If I were a parent and this was happening to my child? I would make sure this adult male was arrested and convicted. I'd seek psychiatric treatment because clearly if all of the above took place under my nose, I was not involved enough in my child's life, and I failed miserably to educate her and keep her safe. If I knew it was happening and basically allowed it to continue then I would likely be facing charges myself.

    Statutory Rape

Statutory rape consists of sexual intercourse with a minor, defined in most states as someone who is under age 18 or 16 (depending on the state) at the time intercourse takes place. The minor's outward consent to intercourse is irrelevant. Statutory rape laws are strict liability laws that make a minor legally incapable of consenting to sexual intercourse. The assumption behind statutory rape laws is that someone under the age of 16 or even 18 does not have the mature mental capacity to voluntarily consent to intercourse. In many states, statutory rape is a felony when one of the participants (usually a male) is at least three years older than the other.

Tough to claim the fact that this dude is a doctors helps me to exclude the baby molestor comment handiest due to the fact that he's a health care provider however that nutt knew she was sixteen even if it was consensual it's still unlawful are we seeing dollar signs right here truthfully considering the fact that that is the first thing i thought about after I learn medical professional, i concept the youngster could be cared for however what the freak she is sixteen why is any individual who is so clever or guide wise as an alternative have a intimate want for a 16 year historic but not someone on his degree. And why is her mother seeming so ok with this nonetheless cant say what i would do truthfully but that is utterly tousled the crazy factor is society will say your daughter is quick however they will excuse the fact that he will have to be registered as a sex perpetrator since of that medical professional title. I can say that at sixteen i had sex with a older guy and it used to be consensual and i got pregnant nobody was once happy with it however i guess if he would had been a medical professional it would have been so particularly i cant decide this crisis. But when he love her a lot i might be asking him the place is the ring for the reason that you acquired my daughter pregnant. He would have 2 choices he can be married to my daughter or married to a phone mate and i'd inform him to take his pick since she will have that baby for the rest of her lifestyles and he would not be marrying no one else.

Given that they loved each other and no coercion was involved, I would be as supportive as possible. 16 is the age of consent in most cases. If your daughter decides to keep the baby, just make sure Dr. Doogie Howser pays his share of child care, whether or not they get married.

Is this supposed to be hypothetical or...

Um well firstly that is illegal...but secondly I would probably question the guy and whether or not he has feelings for her...but at 16 she's not in a position where she should be able to decide if she was to keep the baby or not...but you know there's contraception for a reason. A doctor ought to know that.

Tell him to marry her. He will make a lot of money, so he can support her. Also he must be brilliant because it takes 7 years of university to become a doctor, so he must have started university at age 14.
