what does shooting backdrop mean?

someone was talking about arenas where college or nba teams play and they said if they have a good shooting backdrop players usually score more and hit more 3 point shots

if the arena has a poor shooting backdrop - the players tend to not shoot at a high percentage

just wondering whats the difference ? Dont all arenas have a hoop and a backboard ?

It's what the players see when they're shooting the ball. The backboard is transparent, so when a player is taking a shot he's also looking at the stands behind the basket, and the fans sitting there. A well-designed arena minimizes the distractions and makes it easier for players to pick up where the basket is and how far away they are, which results in higher shooting percentage. Poorly designed arenas make it harder to gauge distance and location.

In college basketball, putting the student section behind the basket generally makes for a poor shooting background, because the students are constantly jumping up and down, waving signs, and doing whatever else they can to distract the players.

I think you meant Back court

back court is PG / SG people who play around the 3 point line

front court is PF/ C (some time SF) people who play around

    the paint.
