Why do we need a pope, what are they there for?

We need one so the pedo priests can safely molest children without getting caught.

Pope's don't voice opinions, they reaffirm Church teaching which is God's authority.

There has been no evidence that any pope covered up pedophiles.

The point to them is that they are the successors to St. Peter. They lead the Church, and help bring people to Christ.

Pope for the Church, pope for the world. The pope is a world leader in matter of morals and teachings of Christ. It believes on dignity of human beings, promote stability and peace, where today we are so disunited e.g. wars, famine, support of the Palestinian state. fed the hungry etc and tend the 1million aids in africa etc.

Such that world leaders come to talk to the Pope in the Vatican, get his blessing and his wisdom. No other religioun could do that, cus the Pope is the representative of Christ.

The position of Pope was established by Christ and the office has been maintained in an apostolic manner since the time of Christ.

Jesus said "You are Peter (Kephas) and upon this rock (kephas) I will build my Church."

They are following what Jesus commanded.. If you dont like Jesus Christ's Catholic Church position on certain subjects you have to take it up with God. The Pope is just following God's orders.

Women can not be priests because Jesus chose men to lead his Church. The Pope has not covered up for anyone.

Assuming this question isn't rhetorical, Catholics believe that Jesus handed the authority of his Church to Peter, and told him, "And I tell you, you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." Catholics maintain that this means Peter and his papal successors authoritatively may speak for God and act as his representative on Earth as Jesus did.

Whether any of this is true is entirely another matter, as is whether they act as a benevolent or malevolent force on Earth.

Because in Catholic view, prophetic mission shall not be stopped. At least not as long as there are many-many sinners. Pope is a kind like prophet in Catholics beliefs. Or so i've read.

Your question is as good as mine, I have no clue, I don't think we need one, we don't need all these cleriks and friars and bishops, just 1 preacher for every church to help us that's it, other than that we just need God.

The dress, tall hat and gold jewelry lend the church an air of dignity.

To horde gold, suppress women, aid rapists, and ignore the reasonable.

We Do not need a Pope. . we never Did need a Pope . . we Don't need Religion . . Churches . . Caholics and so forth.
