Can someone help me with info on painting my bicycle?

I have a BMX I would like to paint. I know the steps of painting, I was just wondering if I can sand it now in my basement so I wouldn't have to sand it when spring rolls around and it is warm enough to paint.

You shouldn't start the project until you are able to complete it... steel frames will pick up surface rust just from the moisture in the air over just a couple of days and aluminum frames will also get a fine coat of corrosion on them.

Want to know how to do it right? Heres a link http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=201110...

It wont take more then a few hours to sand it what until you can paint it. If you sand it now it will rust.

Like they said wait to sand it and then mask off or remove any parts you would not like to get paint on before painting. Spray paint works pretty well for me to paint. Bonus points for making a stencil to create your own bike brand name/text :D
