My laptop will not come out of sleep mode?

When I tried to wake up my laptop out of sleep mode, it just did not respond. It made noise like it was trying to, but it should have started making a lot more noise within seconds and after minutes there is nothing. The screen remains black and it makes noise, but like I said, it should be making more noise. I turned the power off and back on and I still get the same response. I also let the power die and recharged it and still nothing. I have no idea what is wrong, and if anyone could help me with this issue it would be greatly appreciated.

Update:

My mom did exactly this this morning and there was no click, but I tried it again just now and blew out some of the dust and replaced the battery, and as soon as I tried to turn it on again it turned on. I don't know what happened or what was wrong, but thanks

Sleep mode powers down all non-needed hardware - it truly is meant to shop the battery alive for a lengthy time period at the same time as not in use. The radio contained in the WiFi chipset takes quite some capacity (incredibly speaking), so it truly is close down. elementary practice - I easily have various living house windows computers, as well as a Mac, and that all of them do a similar ingredient. it truly is not a topic - in basic terms takes some seconds to reconnect to a remembered community on waking. That i understand of (with 30 years in this employer), there is no thanks to sleep the workstation and go away the radio (WiFi) unsleeping. you in basic terms could wait some seconds for the computing device and get precise of entry to point to bypass by ability of their handshake on wake-up. you ought to configure capacity recommendations to reveal off the visual exhibit unit, disk, and CPU after a couple of minutes of non-use (i ought to signify no shorter than 5 minutes), and in no way positioned it to sleep except you're incredibly going to be away a lengthy time period.

Agree with Brian take the battery out, except that doesn't mean the HDD is fried.

Lots of stuff could be fried. CPU, RAM, video, the back light could be out.

You don't get a POST (power on self test) at all? No beep, flash, BIOS Info on the screen?

Then I guess your saying you can or can't hear the HDD start up?

If you have a VGA port you might try a monitor and see if you get any video on it.

Could it be starting just not displaying anything?

unplug it take battery out, let it sit for a sec and then plug it back in. If it makes a clicking noise then the hard drive has failed
