Federer vs Nadal's match Indian Wells.?

I was supposed to watch the match but for some stupid reason I missed it, so I'd like you to tell me everything about it, like how both players played, etc.

I don't want to give excuses to Federer (especially given that I didn't even watch the match), but was his back injury bad? Or did he just play badly?

In an un-biased point of view please.

Thanks.

Update:

@FlameOn: hum yes it is. Maria is my favorite player so it is a reason.

Update 2:

After being so upset all morning long, I decided to watch a replay of the match to figure out by myself. Yes, Federer played badly, I might be biased but I think it's a fact. He made so many UE's! Nadal wasn't bad, and I have to say his quick recovery impressed me. Congrats to him, and I guess I shouldn't have been that upset, it would be silly to write Fed off, just because of one loss, he'll win more matches (that's where I have to disagree with you @conquerere).

Thank you FlameOn and Michael Stanford for telling me not to be upset :) I overreacted like I always do when Fed has tough losses like that haha. But still, I expected at least a tight match, not 6-4 6-2!

Ironically, I woke up in the middle of the night while the match was starting and I watched it haha.

As I predicted, neither was impressive, but Nadal was more strategic, he played the important points better and Federer was too impatient and made a lot of unforced errors. I have to quote you when you said you couldn't wait for Federer to demolish Rafa in the Quarters 5 days before the match happened :P

When it comes down to the statistics, Nadal hit 19 winners to Federer's 12 and Nadal had 12 UE, while Federer had 30, which was obviously the difference in this match. Federer had more aces and less double faults, but Nadal won 82% of points on his 1st serve and around 60% on his 2nd serve, while Federer won under 30% of points on his 2nd serve. Federer looked nervous from the start and seemed very tense. Nadal was more aggressive, but he also forced a lot of errors from Roger. Nadal wasn't impressive either, but he was the much more solid one.

The match started off by easy holds by both men, until 3-3 when Nadal broke. He then had 2 set points on federer's serve at 5-3 and the set was over, but Federer asked for a challenge and the line judge was wrong and he eventually won that point. Nadal closed it out at 6-4 on his 4th set point. In the 2nd set, Nadal won the first 8 points in a row and then broke Federer's serve again for a 3-0 lead (double break). Then, a small patch of high quality tennis from both occurred. Federer just started hitting out of his mind and went back to 3-2 (one break) and while Nadal was serving, Federer had more break points to level the match up at 3-3 and get back from a double break down. Nadal saved the break poits with some clutch forehands and good serves to take the lead 4-2. Federer then suffered a mental collapse, lost his serve and Nadal closed out the match 6-4 6-2.

His back wasn't that bad. He wasn't near his best, but I don't think the injury had any contribution to it whatsoever. And to say this for other users who said otherwise, Federer is withdrawing from Miami, not because of his back, but because he decided to have a smarter schedule and not over-play.

I'm happy Nadal won as this win obviously means a lot to him (a lot more than it would have meant for Federer). ike I said to you on facebook, there is no reason to be shocked. Nadal leads Federer 19-10 in overall head to head and is good enough of a player to beat anyone, anywhere. People seem to have forgotten what a great tennis player Nadal was prior to injury. It's been barely a month since his comeback and he's been able to easily beat Ferrer on clay and Federer on hard courts, so I think many were wrong to write him off, including myself.

No need to be upset. Federer lost some points, but this is a solid start to the year. He will have a solid clay court season and he will probably be the favorite in Madrid, but his favorite part of the season is Hale/Wimbledon- YEC. He plays best between Wimbledon and the end of the year. Grass is obviously his best surface, but he is untouchable in indoors as well. He's always a favorite at any of the US Open tournaments or the US Open itself, so he should win a lot of points there and a few titles as well.

***Edit: A loss in the Quarterfinals of an ATP 1000 is not a reason to change your name.

    You change your name, lol.

This was not an impressive match to me, both players didn't play their best tennis, especially Federer. I'm not making excuse, I watched the whole match and compare to last year Semis Federer was much better and Nadal still the same. Federer made a lot of unforced error, first serve percentage quite low but Nadal was better in deciding points. But don't be upset ;) Federer still one of the toughest player to deal ;)

    Nadal 6-4 6-2 Federer

    Match time: 1:24

    0 Aces 4

    2 Double Faults 0

    67 1st Serve In % 65

    77 1st Serve Point Won % 61

    53 2nd Serve Point Won % 31

    19 Winners 13

    13 Unforced Errors 30

    3/5 Net Points Won 10/19

    4/11 Break Points Won 1/2

Federer was supposedly badly hurt, but I think it was just back spasms -- painful, yes, but not career threatening. Nadal looked very good. Moved well, ridiculous returns that hit every last inch of the court. If his knee holds up he may win more than just the French this year. Roger wins 0 majors in 2013, IMHO.

Here's what really happened during the Nadal / Federer match:

    Twenty-six year-old, Rafael Nadal manhandled 31 year-old, 4-time champion, Roger Federer.

Boy Wonderful was better in every phase of the game than his aging nemesis . . . including serving, volleying, overhead smashes, movement, forehands and definitely, backhands.

Yes, The Arful Roger was comprimised by a back injury but if you lace up your shoes and lift your racquet against Rafa, you have to be willing to get an epic beat-down and Nadal did not disappoint . . . he beat Roger like he stole something out of his locker.

It was clean; it was definite; IT WAS 4REEEEE-ALL . . .

    Next question . . .
