How can I get my preview pane back?

I have not been able to get the pane at the bottom of my e-mail to appear. It used to preview the e-mail without having to open it in another tab. How do I get it back

    Hello,

    Please try these steps:

    * Click on the "Gear" icon in the top left corner of mail inbox screen

    * Click "Mail Options" (from drop down list)

    * Check the "Enable Preview Pane" option in the first section

    * Click "Save"
