Which looks more appealing: check marks, X's, \'s, or /'s?

It may be subtle, but there has to be some kind of subconscious favor to one of these.

    The square root symbol, but that's just me...

    I guess the answer would depend on where these items appear but I'm going to say check marks because they look cleaner and more defined.
