How can I tell if I'm depressed?
I know this question has been asked before...but I'd like to get an idea if I'm depressed, stressed, tired, or anything so I'd know if it'd be worth it to see a professional.
- I do have an anxiety disorder and am in the middle of getting over bulimia
- anxiety, depression, and bipolar disorder run in my family
- I have little to no motivation to do anything I used to enjoy, except maybe watch TV
- I'm exhausted all the time, even after getting 8.5 to 10 hours of sleep
- I continually obsess over the way I look yet never make any attempts to fix it (wake up early to straighten my hair, go for a jog, etc.)
- I find being pleasant in school utterly exhausting.
- I'm constantly going on these tangents in my head about everything wrong with me, worrying that my friends hate me/are trying to replace me, and can't seem to find peace.
- I cry every day, almost
- I think about death a lot. I'm never the one actually doing it, but I kind of fantasize about a semi truck crossing the line and into me, falling out of car doors when I'm leaning on them, getting cancer or some other deadly illness.
So, any ideas what's wrong with me? Would it be worth seeing a therapist (again)?

Well everything you said sounds like symptoms of depression ( remembering when I was in major depression ) ...No motivation, bad anxiety disorder since middle school,suicidal... obsess over germs and wash my hands every time I could get a chance ... basically lost a grip on reality..
Personally a therapist was a waste of time for me, but for you it could work wonders... My doctor prescribed me with Effexor about a year ago.. got my normal self back, motivated and feeling great.

You can take a depression test online. There are a few reputable sites that offer them and it can give you some quick about your condition. From there I'd definitely see a doctor. Here's a link that shares some more information about depression tests. Hope it helps.

A therapist might be able to help in a small way, but you need to go see a doctor and take something for your anxiety. This will help you in a big way.
