I do NOT think the Minimum Wage should be raised to $22/ hour for KIDS... I think there should be a two tier system - a minimum wage for adults trying to make a living, and another for kids working to earn "pocket money".
Then again, a qualified Lifeguard should make $2-3 dollars OVER minimum wage.
When I was a kid, minimum wage was $3.50... correcting for inflation, that would be $10.48 today.

Beats me. I don't know your kids. Do they work hard, or do they like to goof around a lot?
Edit: If the minimum wage grew at the same pace as worker producitivity, the minimum wage would be $22 per hour.

$13.50 is the minimum wage in New Zealand for all ages. Though our cost of living is higher than the USA; on second thoughts maybe not with all your hyperinflation...

Actually, having an employee easily costs an employer more than $22. It is just that the employee never sees most of it. The money goes to pay for all the liberal regulations, taxes, lawsuits, compliance, etc.

they better be getting straight A's in school, chores best be done no question asked, every corner (and everything in between) of the house spotless of any dust, carpet vacuumed so clean you can eat off it and pay you $25.00 a week rent!!
if all this is done to your satisfaction, no!!

Not if it means the kids who want to swim there have to pay an outrageous fee to cover their pay.
