Are doggy daycares safe?
I brought my 4 months golden retriever to a dog day care for four days because I went on vacation for four days and I just came back and when I picked him up, he didn't seem to recognize me. When I put him in the car he was closing his eyes and he couldn't stand up. Then when I got home, I realized that he is super skinny as if he hasn't ate in weeks. What's wrong with him? Did they treat him bad?? Please help?!

First off before bringing your dog to a boarding facility or fancy word (Doggy Daycare) have all the vaccination up today include have the Bordetella (kennel cough) and what ever else the vet recommends. It is common for a dog to not eat well being boarded because of the lifestyle change, but I would be concerned about the way the pup was acting when you picked him up and in the car. I own a training and boarding facility in Alexandria, MN and have never had a problem like that.

Call the daycare and ask what he ate and whether or not he was exposed to any illness. Then call the vet and take him in for a check up.
Not all doggie daycares are safe...no. Some are run by people who don't have the first clue about caring for dogs, or don't care....they are just trying to make money. Sounds like you got a bad one...they should have called you as soon as your dog started having problems.

My aunties dog used to go to daycare. He is a huge boxer dog and a tiny Maltese bit him. He is such a big scardy cat and will not walk in the door of the place any more. Also while he was there he developed a rash on his head that kept cracking and bleeding. Poor thing. Maybe it was just a coincidence though. To tell you the truth... I guess everywhere is different. But, I wouldn't go back if I was you...

It sounds like he's sick. Not sure if they treated him poorly, but he may have picked something up from another dog. I'd take him to the vet soon, puppies can decline quickly. I wouldn't use that daycare again. Best wishes.

It depends on where you take them. I transport animals for a living and sometimes have to pick them up from dog day cares. I've seen the animals really stressed out when I pick them up from certain day cares.
