My moms dog keeps getting out of the backyard....?
There are no holes dug or anything our dog literally jumps and pulls herself over the fence. My brother has put up chicken wire, but she still got over just by bending the wire down enough for her to get her body over. They recently put up about 2-3 extra feet of wooden fencing on the area she has been getting out, but today we got a call from our neighbor that she was out again. She had broken the fencing at the corner. We don't know what else to do. She is fine when someone is home, but whenever the dogs are alone she gets out. We live next to a semi busy street and are afraid she is going to get hit one of these days. Does anyone have any ideas on how we can contain her?
I should've mentioned we have three other dogs they are all inside dogs and roam freely inside and outside with a dog door. keeping one inside would keep them all inside and prevent them from going to the bathroom outside. Also it would be unfair to tie only one of them up all the time seeing as my mom works everyday and my brother and i do not live with her and my mom lives alone.
Thank You Rachel we would never even think to tie up our dog...but we already do have an in ground fence
our dog is not bored she has three other dogs that she is always playing with and there is no way we are tying her up or putting her in a kennel. all i want to know is what i can put up on the fence to keep her from jumping over.

Dog kennel run with a secure top so the dog can't climb out & set on a concrete slab so the dog can't dig out. Or keep the dog in the house. Only allow her outside in the yard when you can go out with her & supervise.
You can try electric wire on top of the fence.

Have you tried increasing the amount of exercise the dog is receiving? Or challenge her with interactive toys? You need to keep her busy and tired to avoid boredom. If she's tired, she won't have the desire to escape the fencing.
Or resort to a covered kennel when she's home alone.

That used to be my dog. But mine dug holes SO quick! Even stones! We used a pot to block a loose spot. She knocked over the pot and dug at the loose spot!
Anyways, put her on a leash. Enough to walk around and not feel trapped, and make it a bit tight!
My dog could take off her collar since we thought it's better to be loose:/
Bring her doghouse outside, water/food, and a toy.

Hook her up to a cable leash, that will give her the freedom to roam around the yard as she pleases but short enough to where she can't get near the fence

You can keep her in the house if you are not watching her, or you can just get a higher fence.

Your dog is board out of it's brain and trying to take himself out for some fun, there is nothing in your yard keeping your dog interested in staying there all day, i suggest you catch the dog in the act to tell her off. then i would make your yard more fun for her with dog games, food puzzles, toys ect.
you cn also make or buy very large enclosed animal pens too.
but i would play with her in the yard, train her and treat her so she relises it's more fun to be at home even when your not there, sounds like she could do with more challanging excersises aswell as obedience school this tires them out really well

Stop leaving her outside when no one is home: she is going looking for her family, or some other people/friends.

when going away put it in the house or garage or tie it up so it doesnt get hit and get hurt or killed

I would try an in-ground fence. please do not tie your dog up, as it sometimes turns dogs mean.
