What is the approximate velocity of a .357 magnum fired from a 2" barrel revolver?

I know velocity is lost from the shorter barrel but how much? Compared to a revolver with a 6" barrel that has on average about 1500 FPS.

Update:

The bullet is a Hornady XTP 158 grain with 12.5 grains of accurate #9 powder.

Depends on the weight of the bullet and powder load/brand. With the tried and trusted 125 gr .357 magnum, 6" is 1700 fps, 2" is 950 fps.

A bullet going 1500 fps out of a 6" barrel according to that chart would leave a 2" barrel at around 850-940 fps, again, depending on the weight of the bullet and powder

For every two (2) inches of barrel length gained or lost you only gain or lose 170 feet per second so your two (2) inch barrel is at a total gain or loss of 340 feet per second muzzle velocity.* Its a very minor, insignificant loss of muzzle velocity.* 1500 minus 340 = 1160 feet per second from your two (2) inch barrel.*
