Should I get a new Oral Surgeon for jaw surgery?

I need corrective jaw surgery because my lower jaw sticks out. My oral surgeon (who is doing my wisdom teeth too) insists that he won't be able to perform the surgery until 6 months after the removal of my wisdom teeth. Should I see if another surgeon will do it sooner? Or is that the general time frame? It's very inconveniant if I have to wait 6 months because that's the start of a new school year.
