why do sushi companies overwork their employees?

?? i know a guy who works in a sushi company and works 12 hours a day and 6 days a week. wouldnt that be illegal?/ should i report the company? yes this is in america and the guy is from overseas and doesnt know any better.

I seriously doubt he is getting any overtime.

    as long as they paid overtime or he's salaried rather than hourly the company is not breaking any law.

    He gets money by the stuff he sells not just by the hours.

    They can make almost 10000 a month but they have to take out expenses for the ingredients like rice and veges.

    Depends on how the company runs it.

    Maybe he likes working there and have no problem with it

  • They can give you as many hours as they see fit, he is lucky to get that many hours. If he loves the job then it shouldn't bother him. I'm lucky if I manage to get 12 hours in a week. It's not illegal if he is getting the proper amount of breaks.
