is bioshock infinite connected to the other ones story wise?

ive played the first one and part of the second one. will i be lost if i just jump into this new one? i keep seeing good things about it

    This one is a standalone game. You will not be lost at all if you play it. There is a reference in the end, but whether you understand it or not does not affect the story.

    Its not connected to the other bioshock games at all storywise.. Sure there is a reference, but one could say that the things in Bioshock Infinite never actually happened ;]

    Go for it. It has amazing graphics, themes, art, gameplay, voice, music and story.
