How to help a friend facing Class B felony?

A friend of mine has been charged with a class B aggravated assault on a cop in Louisiana, but I and other witnesses saw that my friend didn't only not hit this cop, but also the cop beat him when he was down and cuffed even though he wasn't trying to run or fight. How can I go about getting this information to the court?

Get in touch with his lawyer, and let the lawyer know that you and other witnesses (if you know the other witnesses and they are willing to testify) saw what happened and wish to testify on your friend's behalf. Even if it's just you, let him know there's a slight possibility the others on the scene at the time would provide eyewitness testimony if they know about it. Perhaps the lawyer will want to place an ad or something to try to gather the other witnesses.

For as long as you and the other wittnesses tell the truth about what you saw, that'll be the best way to help.

If you currently haven't been called to give a statement go to the police and as a witness you should just be called for.

The way you would do this is by his defense lawyer calling you as a witness to testify about what you saw.

Talk to your friends lawyer, he can have you called in as a witness for the defense.

If your friend touched the officer while agitated, merely touched him,... it is Assault.
