Do you like books about ghosts?
Because I'm writing one and I was wondering if it would sell well. I know vamps & weres are really in right now, so I was concerned people might say 'egh no vamps', but once you start reading it you realize there are vamps, too. & weres, mermaids, zombies, etc. but the MC is a ghost. Sound interesting?
This one is ABOUT a ghost. It is the ghost's story I'm telling.

No
But it does sound like the type of teen fiction that sells in absurd numbers.

You shouldn't write a book for the sake of writing a book that will sell, you should write a book because you want to write a book and have a story to tell. Besides, I can't predict the future, and just because something is 'in' at the moment doesn't mean your story using the same elements will become popular (or even be published). It could very well be interesting, but I can't answer that until I know something about the actual plot.

I read books based on what the characters are trying to learn from having a ghost around. Why is the ghost still around? How is this ghost different from every other ghost that's out there? There are so many stories out there that you need to have something that separates this from something else.

Not really. I don't read stories ABOUT ghosts, but I read stories WITH ghosts. However, if I picked up in a book shop, liked the blurb and first chapter, I would read it. If I like the plot and writing style, I'll definitely read it.
