Re-aged zombie Citibank card?
A student credit card I got in 1991. DOFD was before 1994. I don't remember exactly when because it's ancient history.
I just noticed a company called Lynx Credit sneaked it onto my Experian CR in 2010, re-aged to that year. I don't check often because I have not used debt for many years.
How should I go about disputing this? Online, I used "no knowledge of account," but I hear the collector can just lie to them again and they'll believe them. Is there a way to get Citibank to acknowledge the DOFD, or at least that I had no accounts with them in 2010 nor any of the years prior?
One other question, is it legal for Equifax to refuse the free online ACR without explanation, and demand copies of SSN and ID for the mail-in one?
Yes, I know it's illegal. The question is, how can I prove it, if it comes to that. There is not likely any record of the original account, other than in the collector's possession.

It looks like Lynx Credit is out of business. You can just request validation of the debt and it will most likely be removed.
Credit bureaus keep records of original defaults. They should already have the info on file for the original default date. You don't have to prove anything.
This is a violation of the Fair Credit Reporting Act. Negative items can only stay for 7 years, starting from the original default date.
Send a certified letter to Experian stating:
Per the Fair Credit Reporting Act, this defaulted account from 1991 is being reported beyond that 7 year allowable reporting period and can no longer be reported.
- Be sure to send in copies of your SS card and driver's license...otherwise it can delay the process.
