  • Recent login activity shows a hack?

I've changed the password - now what? Nothing in the "customer care" maze has any information about what to do about a suspicious login.

In particular, I want to know details about the transgressor - IP, OS, browser type, and exactly what they did. I am sure Yahoo has records of this, considering all the obscure data that I supposedly deleted years ago that keeps popping up.

  • Hard Shutdowns for Unknown Reason?

old desktop. hp d330 board, 3.0ghz hyperthreading p4 northwood, 1024mb pc3200 ram, geforce 7600gs, sata hdd, ide dvdr/w, running ubuntu 12.04.

Not a lot of power draw, but it's been sporadically hitting hard shutdowns/resets. temperature sensor logs show that cpu, gpu and chassis are all in normal ranges. HDD temp is sometimes a bit low but not critically. syslog records nothing relevant to the shutdown and nothing out of the ordinary, and there is no patter to where it cuts off, suggesting hardware origin.

Memtest86 reported a few errors but after reseating the modules they have since passed all of many complete tests error-free.

The resets have happened using two different psu's, both rated well above the pc's power requirements. Voltages are well within the margin of 5 percent of normal, generally 2 percent. I don't have access to temp sensors for them but they're never warm to the touch. Unless they are maintaining constant voltage but losing power and thus current, tripping their undercurrent limiters, I doubt they're at fault - particularly since that would mean they both went bad at once.

So - not software, not heat, not bad ram, and probably not the power supply. Could it be a damaged mobo? I've never seen a bad mobo that worked perfectly other than resetting itself, as this one does, for example right now posting this. Something about the cpu design (one of the first "virtual dual" cores)? Ideas?

  • Re-aged zombie Citibank card?

A student credit card I got in 1991. DOFD was before 1994. I don't remember exactly when because it's ancient history.

I just noticed a company called Lynx Credit sneaked it onto my Experian CR in 2010, re-aged to that year. I don't check often because I have not used debt for many years.

How should I go about disputing this? Online, I used "no knowledge of account," but I hear the collector can just lie to them again and they'll believe them. Is there a way to get Citibank to acknowledge the DOFD, or at least that I had no accounts with them in 2010 nor any of the years prior?

One other question, is it legal for Equifax to refuse the free online ACR without explanation, and demand copies of SSN and ID for the mail-in one?

  • Shouldn't the USA basketball team have to play with 4 players (spoiler)?

They just beat Nigeria 156 to 73. It was obviously unfair to allow the US team to use all its players. The refs should have done something.

  • Why don't the horses get the medal?

In horse racing, they declare the horse the winner. In the Olympic horse events, the horse does all the running and jumping, but they declare the rider the winner.

  • Is there a way to keyword search for FEWEST views?

I vaguely recall youtube used to have much better sorting options, but nowadays, you can either choose the most popular, the highest rated, or the most relevant.

This makes it nearly impossible to find rarely-watched videos that I know are there, but don't know the exact title, just a few words of it, and so I'd have to sort through dozens of pages of videos with 1 million views before finding the right one.

I am sure youtube did this as part of its policy of herding viewers into watching the same popular videos over and over again, so they can make more money from advertisers.

But maybe there's still a legacy keyword method to sort by views - lowest to highest, instead of highest to lowest. I've looked for a keyword method on google video for that, but didn't find one.

  • What's that wacky Asian sport called where you play volleyball with your feet?

I saw it on Eurosport 2, it totally blew my mind. High-speed serves, blocks, sets, spikes, the whole 9 yards, except they kick the ball like ancient Mayans.

  • Do cheetahs ever crash?

Cheetahs can run over 60 miles per hour. That's a pretty dangerous speed if you lose control and wipe out or run into something. But I've never heard of a cheetah being killed in a crash. Do they never crash, or are they biologically adapted to avoid injury when they crash?

  • Is there more than one actual yellow Jersey?

If there's only one yellow jersey, over the course of the month it would end up in pretty nasty condition. I wouldn't want to wear it after the leader wipes his nose on his yellow sleeve about a thousand times. And maybe the leader has a contagious skin disease, or maybe lice, or worse yet, scabies. They would have to specially wash the jersey to get rid of the scabies, and I don't think the fabric would survive that. Not to mention, what if the new leader is really big or really scrawny, and the jersey doesn't fit.

So I bet there's more than one actual yellow jersey, am I right?

  • Do the horses wanna win?

Do the racehorses care if they win or lose? They seem to like to run fast, but do they actually care if they come in first or fourth?

If the jockeys just sat on them and did nothing, would they even keep running around the track at all? Maybe they would form a herd and just stand around and graze or do whatever horses do in their free time.

  • What is the deal with Safeway's food prices?

Since January, staple items like milk and most meats have increased by 20 to 30 percent, at least in the western US.

Is this due to the price of food, or the price of gas? The DOL's food price index hasn't gone up much lately.

  • Are raccoons good to eat?

The urban raccoon population has exploded in the last 10 years, I think the obvious solution would be to eat them.

Anybody here ate a raccoon? What do they taste like? Is it legal to kill and eat one? At least in areas where they're not a rabies vector.
