Why do people ask questions on Y!A that they could google and find the answer is mere seconds?

Update:

@Standalone This question is being used to get opinions from various users of this site as opposed to hard and fast information that I can look up. I find Y!A to be usefull for such things. I just don't understand questions that you can literally find the answer to on Wikipedia in less than 30 seconds.

To get peoples perspective. Sometimes its much easier to have someone tell you something in 1-2 sentences. When you google something, you usually end up getting long wiki articles that are rarely summarized.

Yahoo answers is ultimately a form of social media, and perhaps someone is looking for opinion and a conversation, not just an answer.

One thing I have often wondered is, what has happened to libraries. You know, those buildings where books are kept on a variety of subjects. I know it might seem a bit old-fashioned , but alot of my knowlege has been gained from these places. Google has it's place in gaining knowledege, but so does a good book.

Take dieting for example. There are many teens asking here for info about weightloss whereas a visit to their local library, with a variety of books about nutrition, would also provide them with information on the subject.

because you want more feedback and opinions(personal opinions) and if its for a project the chances of your teacher finding out you plagarized from a site from google are higher than the chances of your teaches finding out that you stole the info from someone on Yahoo Answers.

Because it adds a "real person" element to the answer, instead of just a clinical, dry factual output.
