Just some random guy on the internet. Sometimes I answer seriously, most of the time I play for laughs. And that is all you need to know about me.

  • Is this a logical fallacy, and if so, which one?

Claiming that because something does not exist in the present it cannot exist all.

Example: If, in 1930, someone had said that because no nuclear bombs existed at that time, nuclear bombs could never exist.

I was leaning towards personal incredulity, but when I researched personal incredulity it said that the "evidence" in such an argument is that the speaker cannot believe it, whereas in this situation the "evidence" is that the object does not exist in the present. Is it still personal incredulity or something else? Please explain.

  • What logical fallacy would the following example fall under?

The year is 1930. Alice has just read H. G. Wells' "The World Set Free" and is greatly troubled by the prospect of nuclear weapons. When she talks to Bob about it, Bob scoffs at the notion, saying nuclear weapons can only every exist in the realm of fiction. After all, Bob says, if the nuclear weapon could be created it would grant the first country to make one immense power over its neighbors. However, no country has yet to create one, or even start a nuclear weapons program, in spite of Well's book being published back in 1914. Bob finishes by stating that because no country has nuclear weapons, the nuclear weapon cannot exist in the real world.

  • Has a Muslim Cleric publicly denounced Jihad?

I know everyone keeps saying that the terrorists are a radical branch of Islam, but if so has a Muslim cleric come out openly and stated such? If so, include a link. If not, why are the 'moderates' silent?

  • Is this a liberal fantasy?

    Free health care

    Free food

    Free lodging

Everyone is on equal footing (except for a couple of people in power to regulate)

    The people don't have guns

So, the Liberal fantasy is prison. And they want to run this country. How could this possibly go wrong?

  • Liberals, if the scandals are just Republican mud slinging, shouldn't they be investigated anyway?

These are some pretty serious allegations that are being brought up. I think they should be investigated regardless of truth. If they are false the mainstream media will seize the opportunity to destroy the Republicans. If true they will expose the corruption and America will gain. I see little point in simply denying them because you believe they are untrue when the attacks are unrelenting.

    Agree or disagree and why.

  • Gay marriage supporters, what do you think about incest?

Ok, first this is a genuine question. I want to know if you would support incest if both sides consented. Please refrain from the sophmoric "You brought up incest you want to do incest dur dur dur" NO. I am curious as to what YOU think, and trying to divert the argument like that is simply dodging the question.

  • Gay marriage supporters, what do you think of this?

Why don't we make it so that marriage stays between a man and a woman, but have another form of union between two of the same gender that grants equal status under the law? It seems like it would solve a lot of problems, like the fear of some that gay marriage will undermine traditional marriage, while at the same time granting them what they want, that is equal rights under the law?

  • Atheists, what is your opinion on Jesus?

Do you believe him to be a historical figure that was a subject of historical rewriting? A compilation of multiple people? Completely fictitious? If he was real, do you think he was well meaning but misguided, crazy, or manipulative? If he was fictional, why do you think he was created when most of the Jews rejected him and in the first century the Romans severely persecuted those who professed to follow him? Do you agree with some of his teachings (the ones he said, not the ones in the old testament) or do you find them all absurd? Do you think he should be admired similar to Gandhi and that Christians take it too far or do you loathe the very mention of his name?

I realize that not all atheists believe the same way, so I am looking to get as many different answers as possible. Please be descriptive and give reasons for your beliefs.

  • Do you agree with this assessment of Left and Right?

I was reading a book and found a very interesting stand about Left and Right. I wanted to see what you think of it. Below is a little graph that sums it up.

    Total Amount of Government Power

    I---------------I---------------I

    100%.........50%............0%

    Far...............................Far

    Left............................Right

In essence, Left and Right is how much control the government has. Far Left is totilltarion such as Communism, Fascism, and Dictatorships, Far Right is anarchy. Obviously neither are favorable to the general public, so a balance is the policy. The issue is just what constitutes a good balance.

  • Why are people using the Boston bombing to take pot-shots at each other?

Seriously, these guys killed three and injured many more, and we are busy making petty coments about each other. "Where are all the libs who said they were Tea Partiers?" "Do cons support them for being against Obama?" Seriously people?! This is just sad! Are we really this divided and petty that this tragedy is being used for childish insults?

...or to busy laughing at yet another idiotic claim that they have made. Seriously, how would a device like that even work?!

  • My computer won't start up properly?

Symptom: when I try to start up my Windows computer after shutting it down, it loads right up until before the Windows insignia should pop up on my computer. Right before that, the screen stays black and only the mouse appears. I can move it but I can't do anything with it. My computer starts just fine on safe mode, but not one normal mode (I have already tried loading to the last successful boot and using system restore. Neither worked, and I lost the cd to use start up repair.

Background: my computer was working fairly normally before. I have Kaspersky's anti-virus and I scan about once every three days. I have Windows Firewall with as far as I know no holes to allow other programs, and I rarely stray into non-Kaspersky approved sites. About a week ago I was trying to download the X-Ray mod for minecraft (note: I didn't have modloader). When trying to install it took me to a site called iLivid. I installed the site, and that when things started going south. It started small, with only about a 10% failure rate to start. But it got worse. I decided that iLivid was the problem and uninstalled it, but even after that I was only able to get on about one more time before I couldn't get on again. I checked Kaspersky in safe mode. I said I have one alert, an outdated model of Adobe. However, based on the description of the alert it doesn't seem like it is the problem, and if it is I can't uninstall it until I get on normal mode.

Can anyone help me? Is there a free solution, or do I have to take it in to get fixed?
