Has a Muslim Cleric publicly denounced Jihad?
I know everyone keeps saying that the terrorists are a radical branch of Islam, but if so has a Muslim cleric come out openly and stated such? If so, include a link. If not, why are the 'moderates' silent?
@Symph Could you provide a link or two to back up that last claim?

Jihad is a struggle with oneself. Greater jihad is when a muslim fights his own desires. This Jihad that you speak of isn't real Jihad. Fighting Jihad in actual Islam that was exhibited by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had rules as too which no muslim could harm women, children, or innocent people. No muslim could harm a man who was already injured in the battle field. No muslim could destroy the property belonging to the conquered lands nor could they take it. No muslim could harm a tree or nature. No muslim could kill prisoners. Things like that. Islam is just misunderstood. In my personal opinoin, don't ask questions about islam on this site. You get a lot of hate and false lies. Trust me I know, I've seen both sides of the spectrum.

Very few Muslim cleric have publicly denounced Jihad. The ones who do are usually side lined in their community.

Jihad is a part of Islam and it means striving for Allah, not necessarily in war. Resisting sinful temptation is also Jihad. They have denounced terrorists and terrorism though.
